FURIA repeat win over EG to reach ESL Pro League Season 12 North America grand final
The Brazilians made it two wins from two against the North American side in ESL Pro League Season 12 to convincingly book their place in the grand finals.
FURIA handed Evil Geniuses their only loss of the group stage in an impressive 2-0 against the North America giants when they met earlier in the tournament, marking the Brazilian’s first series win over the core of EG since January 2019. The victory also ended a period of dominance from Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz’s troops, who were on a 14-series win streak before their encounter.
This time around, FURIA brought an even higher level to the matchup. Spectacular showings from each member of the squad set the team on a unstoppable path on Inferno with a solid offence before going on to put up a stellar defence on Nuke to swiftly conclude the series.
The Brazilian squad came out of the gates hot on their map pick of Inferno in an attempt to replicate their past success and blazed into the lead. The unrelenting T side aggression from FURIA enabled the team to cement themselves in pole position throughout the half as they bulldozed their way to a flawless 12-0 advantage. Evil Geniuses could only muster a mere two rounds before FURIA snatched the final round heading into halftime, with the trio of Andrei "arT" Piovezan, Yuri "yuurih" Santos and Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato wreaking havoc.
Evil Geniuses hit back swiftly in the second half by acquiring three consecutive rounds after losing the pistol. However, the score difference proved to be too extreme as Vinicius "VINI" Figueiredo soon wrapped the map up 16-5 with an ace.

Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov kicked off Nuke with a triple kill to start EG’s T side positively, however, FURIA instantly replied with three of their own to take an early 3-1 lead. The Brazilian’s defence was unbreakable for numerous rounds moving forward as the advantage was briskly extended by seven. Ethan "Ethan" Arnold provided a beacon of hope with a quad kill to put his team on four rounds, but the North American side was unable to convert the final round before the break.
Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte was activated once Evil Geniuses switched to CT alongside an already performing Ethan, but the rest of the team’s impact was successfully muted by FURIA, whose entire squad was delivering in their respective roles. EG added a few rounds to their tally before the Brazilian squad turned their performance up a gear to emphatically claim a 16-7 map win and send Evil Geniuses to the lower bracket.
